- AI model / LLM
- The "brain" that reads and writes text
- AI agent
- An AI helper that does a specific job, often using other tools
- Air-gapped
- Fully disconnected from the internet
- API / API key
- A doorway that lets other software use an AI service; the key is the password for it

- Data room
- A secure online folder of documents for investors

- Flow / workflow
- A series of steps the AI follows, like a recipe

- Hallucination
- When an AI makes something up
- Human in the loop
- A person checks or approves before the AI's work is used

- Knowledge base
- A library of information the AI looks things up in

- Magic link
- A one-time login link sent by email instead of a password

- NDA
- A non-disclosure agreement: a promise to keep information confidential

- OAuth
- The "Sign in with Google / GitHub" permission screen
- OCR
- Reading text out of a photo or scanned page

- PHI
- Protected health information: personal medical details
- Plugin / tool
- An extra skill the AI can use, such as web search or a calculator
- Prompt injection
- A trick where hidden text tries to give the AI instructions

- RAG
- Retrieval-augmented generation: the AI finds the right passages first, then answers from them
- Routing
- Automatically choosing a fast or a deeper AI depending on the question

- Self-hosted
- Running the AI on your own systems instead of renting it from another AI company
- Sovereign AI
- AI that runs on infrastructure you control

- Token
- The unit used to measure how much text the AI reads and writes; used for billing

- Webhook
- An automatic message one system sends another when something happens
